The Mimics is a series created by Robinik Grimmgall. This series is planned to be the first one released.

Plot[]

The Mimics is about an anthropomorphic male seagull and an anthropomorphic female cat striving to achieve their dreams in Mimic Beach, New York while also dealing with poverty and having to work tons of jobs. While in Mimic Beach, the duo meets all sorts of fun characters and personalities, including the owner of a book store, "The Bookyman", Connie B. It will be a mostly slice-of-life series with a some storytelling toward a goal.

History[]

Grimmgall came up with the idea of The Mimics while in church one night when he was 10 years old. Out of boredom, he started doodling in an empty phone book from his mother's purse. He recalled events that morning where he went out to the local lake and started chasing the seagulls in the sand, acting as though he was a cat. His mother called him a "handsome kitty". It inspired him to draw an anthropomorphic chubby seagull, then called "Birdfrey", a portmanteau of "bird" and "Jeffrey", who would soon become "Harvey". He then doodled an anthropomorphic cat, who he called "Katherine" or simply "Kat". He doodled Kat chasing Birdfrey on the beach and then drew Birdfrey and Kat in loving situations (with Kat still thinking of Birdfrey as food). After which, he developed another character—a chubby anthropomorphic female bluebird who he called "Connie B".

Grimmgall created Connie B. as a character who had an obsessive love interest with Birdfrey. Birdfrey did not reciprocate Connie B.'s feelings and would become nervous whenever around her. He was a generally anxious character. Soon afterward, Grimmgall developed the idea of Kat protecting Birdfrey from Connie B., usually in violent ways, fending off the obsessive woman. This was interpreted by him as Kat harboring romantic feelings for Birdfrey that she would not reveal. In this concept of the show, Kat, Connie B., and Birdfrey were homeless, living on a beach. Because of the inspiration from this show, Grimmgall decided to call it, "The Mimics". Wishing to better explain the title to future fans, he decided to call the area they lived in "Mimic Beach". It did not have a known location other than it was in the United States.

This concept was later abandoned and forgotten for years. In the year 2015, Grimmgall finally remembered the idea and decided to revive it, making various changes to the characters. "Birdfrey" was renamed to Harvey Gullberg and given a major redesign. Connie B. was also given a major redesign and Katherine Davis was given a minor redesign. They now resided in Mimic Beach with Harvey, Connie B., and Kat all having homes and jobs. More characters were soon added to the world.
